The ideal candidate will have a strong background in rubber chemistry, compounding, and processing, with hands-on experience in the rubber manufacturing industry or specialized academic training in rubber technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Compound Development & Optimization:
Formulate and develop new rubber compounds for various Gravolite products (virgin, recycled, and blends) to meet specific performance requirements (e.g., durability, elasticity, shock absorption, slip resistance, fire retardancy).
Optimize existing rubber formulations to improve material properties, reduce costs, enhance processability, and increase product lifespan.
Conduct trials and experiments to evaluate new raw materials, polymers, fillers, curatives, and additives.
Process Improvement:
Collaborate with production engineers to troubleshoot compounding and molding issues, ensuring efficient and high-quality manufacturing processes.
Identify opportunities for process optimization to enhance product consistency and reduce waste.
Quality Assurance & Control:
Develop and implement rigorous testing protocols for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished Gravolite products.
Perform analytical and physical testing (e.g., tensile strength, elongation, hardness, abrasion resistance, compression set, specific gravity, rheology) using various laboratory equipment.
Analyze test data, interpret results, and prepare detailed reports.
Investigate root causes of material non-conformities or product failures and propose corrective actions.
Research & Innovation:
Stay abreast of new developments in rubber chemistry, polymer science, and manufacturing technologies.
Explore sustainable materials and processes relevant to rubber flooring.
Contribute to intellectual property development and continuous product innovation.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate records of formulations, test results, and experimental procedures.
Ensure all processes and products comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, ISI) and safety regulations
