Role Overview:
We are seeking a Regional Sales Manager (RSM) - East Zone who will be responsible for driving and managing the entire business operations across the Eastern region. The ideal candidate will be based out of Kolkata and will lead sales, distribution, dealer networks, and channel growth. This is a high-ownership role for someone who understands the nuances of channel sales, can build strong market relationships, and can drive consistent revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Revenue Management:
- Own the sales targets for the East region and consistently deliver month-on-month growth.
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with national objectives.
- Monitor primary and secondary sales and ensure continuous market penetration.
2. Channel & Distribution Network Expansion:
- Build, manage, and scale distributor and dealer networks across the region.
- Identify new business opportunities, appoint new channel partners, and strengthen existing relationships.
- Ensure distributors follow proper processes, including forecasting, ordering, and inventory management.
3. Territory & Team Management:
- Oversee the performance of on-ground sales teams (where applicable).
- Conduct regular market visits, retailer interactions, and competitor tracking.
- Train and motivate channel partners on product knowledge and sales best practices.
4. Market Intelligence & Reporting:
- Track region- specific trends, consumer behavior, competitor activities, and pricing intelligence.
- Provide periodic reports on sales performance, market gaps, and strategic recommendations.
5. Cross- functional Collaboration:
- Coordinate with Marketing, Supply Chain, Product, and Finance teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Support regional marketing activations, product launches, and trade promotions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience & Skills:
- 4+ years of sales experience, preferably in channel sales, general trade, or distribution- led businesses.
- Strong understanding of sales fundamentals, field operations, and regional market dynamics. - Hands- on experience managing distributors, retailers, and channel partners.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship- building skills.
- Proficiency in local languages of the Eastern region is strongly preferred..
Education:
- MBA (preferred) from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 business school.
- Strong academic background with good business and analytical understanding.
