Job Purpose Reporting to the Supervisor, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for providing support and assistance during Royalty Audits for various authors. The individual will be responsible for preparing the reports requested by the external Auditors and perform reviews of the reports, to ensure royalty calculations are accurate and in compliance with the terms of author contracts. The individual will assist management with the review of and response to audit findings and ensuring that responses are accurate, comprehensive, and accurately reflect the position of the company. Participating in the timely completion of assigned audit reviews producing accurate, complete, and organized work papers. Identify improper accounting or documentation, research issues, and make recommendations to improve policies or procedures accordingly. Assure that the documentation contains collaborating evidence to support the audit objectives as well as perform special projects as required. Provide status updates to the management as needed. Work on external auditor inquiries and provide support and reconcile discrepancies, as applicable. The right person thrives in a high performance, fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include:
Assist in the preparation of author inquiry support using various system(s) extracts and royalty statements
Preparing reports by providing well detailed documentation of audit results
Collating, checking, and analyzing spreadsheet data
Liaising with managerial staff and presenting findings and recommendations
Ensuring procedures, policies, and regulations are correctly followed and complied with
Preparing and maintaining work papers that support author audit for external auditors
Assisting in testing the system reports
Drafting commentary as appropriate for the Manager Royalty Audit to review for issuance to internal and external reporting
Preparing Dashboards and Status reports
Working on special projects as required. Utilizing knowledge of departmental operations to gather and compile information
Related work and academic experience
Bachelor?s degree in accounting from an accredited college/university or Qualified by Experience
Master's degree is preferred (MBA Finance)
Experience in private or public accounting is a plus
Pre-requisites and skillsets for this role
Self-motivation, determination, and confidence
Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal English communication skills
Experience in using Microsoft Office tools, Advanced Excel skills is preferred
Strong systems aptitude and experience with database analytical tools
Highly organized and able to handle simultaneous projects, gathering and processing huge data.
Ability to interpret author royalty contracts and apply applicable royalty calculation when required
Analytical ability to assess and verify the accuracy of accounting records and reports
Ability to perform standard procedures i.e. sorting, flowcharting, recalculations, documentation
Ability to organize and present data findings in a clear and concise manner to senior management with little supervision
Ability to drive complex projects forward, iterate, and adapt
Able to work independently and within a team structure to consistently deliver flawless work solutions within aggressive (and changing) time constraints.
Multilingual skills a plus
