Routing and Switching Protocol development engineer
This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Family Definition:
Contribute to shaping HPE's vision for next-generation data centre and enterprise switching products and solutions. You will be part of a team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining routing and switching software for HPE product lines.
Management Level Definition:
Collaborate with product management and cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive software functional specifications and articulate system/software architecture specifications to ensure product features meet requirements. Conduct detailed design and implementation, unit testing, protocol integration, and other related software component development for products and features. Exercise independent judgment and consult with others to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
What you'll do:
Responsibilities:

• Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
• Analyse design and determine coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of the overall architecture of the product or solution.
• Write and execute complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for the assigned portion of the application; identify and debug and create solutions for issues with code and integration into the application's architecture.
• Collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Represent the software engineering team for all phases of projects.

What you need to bring:
Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 4-6 years experience.

Knowledge and Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. * Proficient in written and verbal communication, with mastery of English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals, and negotiate options at management levels.

• Proficient in C/C++ programming, data structures, algorithms, and Linux/FreeBSD operating system concepts.
• Experience in implementing one or more routing protocols, such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, or MPLS signalling protocols like RSVP, LDP, or multicast routing protocols like PIM, IGMP.
• Familiarity with Layer2 switching, EVPN, VXLAN, VPLS, and L2VPN is preferred.
• Familiarity with complete software development life cycle.
