to develop, implement, and optimize robotic welding programs for our sheet metal components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial welding robots, a strong understanding of welding processes (MIG/TIG), and the ability to interpret 2D and 3D drawings to produce high-quality welds efficiently and consistently.
Key Responsibilities:Programming & Setup:
Develop and optimize robotic welding programs using teach pendant or offline programming software (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, Panasonic, etc.).
Set up welding fixtures, jigs, and tooling for robotic welding cells.
Create weld paths based on CAD models, drawings, and process requirements.
Fine-tune weld parameters including speed, voltage, current, and torch angles.
Process Optimization:
Continuously improve robot welding programs to reduce cycle time, increase weld quality, and enhance productivity.
Analyze weld failures and make programming or process corrections as needed.
Coordinate with design and manufacturing teams to improve part/weld joint designs for automation.
Quality & Inspection:
Ensure welds meet quality standards and specifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, ISO 3834, etc.).
Perform visual and dimensional inspection of welds and correct deviations.
Support first-piece approvals and quality documentation.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on welding robots, torches, wire feeders, and peripheral equipment.
Support preventive maintenance schedules and minimize robot downtime.
Collaboration & Documentation:
Maintain up-to-date records of welding programs, tool setups, and change history.
Work closely with welding engineers, quality, and production staff to ensure seamless workflow.
Qualifications:
Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Welding Engineering or related field.
2-5 years of experience in robotic welding programming, preferably in a
sheet metal fabrication
environment.
Proficiency with one or more robotic platforms (FANUC, Yaskawa Motoman, ABB, Panasonic, etc.).
Strong understanding of welding processes (MIG/TIG), joint design, and weld symbols.
Experience with offline programming software is a plus (e.g., RoboDK, Delmia, RobotStudio).
Key Competencies:
Precision and attention to detail
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with welding quality standards and inspection techniques
Good communication and teamwork skills
Proactive mindset toward continuous improvement and automation
