A Team Player\xe2\x80\x93 An RMO is not simply a doctor, who will take OPD\xe2\x80\x99s, check the patients and the work is done. An Resident Medical Officer is one who is supposed to manage all the patient care. He should be a team player and work closely with his team of doctors. RMO should keep visiting the in-hospital patients, go for rounds and check their progress. The RMO should be regularly in-touch with his other doctors and discuss the cases. He/She can offer their advice and work closely with his subordinate. All in all the RMO is totally responsible for the working of the hospital and the welfare of the patients.
Verifying the complex cases \xe2\x80\x93 An RMO cannot leave complex cases on the junior or visiting faculty. It is important the RMO should work on their own on complex cases and chart out treatment plans according to the needs and requirements.
Ensure high standards of patient care\xe2\x80\x93 It is the duty of an RMO to maintain high standards of patient care in the hospital. If any patient is facing any problem then the RMO should look into the matter and do the needful.
Hiring the staff\xe2\x80\x93 RMO is also responsible for hiring other staff members including junior doctors, visiting doctors and nurses. This is one of the most important functions. RMO should choose them carefully, after checking their credentials and experience.
