Introduction:
The Functions GTSM Service Management team is accountable for the creation, review, execution and governance of technology controls and processes across Functions Technology on behalf of the Functions Business areas.
The Service Manager will work as part of the Functions Global Service Management and Controls team and will be responsible for working with a team of internal and external partners to deliver complex solutions in alignment with overall technology strategy and business requirements.
As Service Manager you will manage the day to day operational stability, governance and on-going transition of projects and services into Run the Bank. Your focus will be on maintaining and improving operational service and operational readiness, by ensuring all new and changed services are implemented and operated in line with the Bank standards and are fit for purpose with appropriate service delivery capability in place. You will oversee the transition of new or amended services into operational support in collaboration with other parts of IT, in order to facilitate successful project completion and a smooth handover to service delivery.
What will you be doing?

  • To assure services provided by our IT supply chain are aligned and deliver against our target operating model and business IT strategy
  • Governance and execution of key technology control standards defined by Barclays Group e.g. (but not limited to) Incident, Problem & Change processes; Service Level Management; Config Management
  • Operating controls and processes for data governance within our technology platforms
  • Managing the Lean Control Tool (LCT) processes for GTSM, including engagement with BTB and other stakeholders to ensure that change and new technologies are properly transitioned from build into run/operational teams inclusive of documentation
  • Timely on-boarding and decommission of any applications in coordination with GTSM and BTB while ensuring global technology standards are achieved
  • Establish and coordinate improvement activities for Functions GTSM and BTB teams across both process and technical activities
  • Identification of thematic issues across Functions Technology applications; establish controls and processes to improve/automate/remediate these issues while ensuring benefits are translated to influence senior and business stakeholders

What we’re looking for:
  • Stakeholder management up to and including D; excellent communication skills (oral and written) in both formal and informal settings
  • Must be a self-starter and able to prioritise a constantly changing workload, delivering short and long term initiatives; pro-active, thorough, organized and energetic
  • Has experience of Financial Services and Banking, with core knowledge of either Retail or Investment banking; working knowledge of Compliance, Anti-Financial Crime, HR or Legal businesses. Direct experience of working in these areas offers a distinct advantage for the role
  • Collaborates regularly and effectively with colleagues across Business and Technology teams; proactively drives team cohesion

Skills that will help you in the role:
  • ITIL service management skillset including the management of third party suppliers in multi customer and provider environments
  • Service engagement and transition management experience
  • Thorough understanding of service management life cycle
  • Team player in a global team
  • Experience of managing supplier relationships
  • Experience of managing relationships with other IT disciplines such as project management
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Analytical and presentation skills using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau and ServiceFirst
  • Project & programme management skills

  • Experience of a DevOps working environment, including use of Lean Control Processes and Jira
  • Understanding of all data centre technologies, including Hadoop, Oracle
  • Understanding / experience of Cloud based applications and architecture
  • Experience of Vendor management, including contract and service reviews
