2. Background
SDC, Pune, in addition to maintaining eFEAP modules, is also responsible for the development and upkeep of CRM applications for LIC of India which operate outside the eFEAP environment. The infrastructure currently comprises approximately 275 servers running on RHEL versions 7, 8, and 9, and this number continues to grow. Given the critical importance of system security, skilled engineers are required to manage server administration, implement remediation measures, and strengthen security posture in line with audit and compliance requirements.
~Role Overview
We are seeking two skilled RHEL Engineers to manage, secure, and optimize our Linux server environment. The role focuses on administering RHEL 7/8/9 servers, applying remediation from Configuration Assessment (CA) and Vulnerability Assessment (VA) reports, integrating with SIEM platforms, PAMS and CAV tools, and managing patching/upgrades via RHEL Satellite servers within our LAN. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a security-first mind-set to ensure compliance, availability, and resilience of our infrastructure.
~ Key Responsibilities
Manage, configure, and maintain RHEL 7/8/9 servers in a growing environment.
Implement configuration changes and fixes as per Configuration Audit (CA) and Vulnerability Assessment (VA) reports.
Apply regular updates, security patches, and kernel upgrades for OS, TPS, and Applications.
Integrate servers with SIEM systems, PAMS, and CAV tools for monitoring and compliance.
Participate in system hardening initiatives and enforce best practices for server security.
Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues proactively.
Maintain documentation of server configurations, security compliance, and integration activities; write and maintain SOPs.
Collaborate with internal teams for deployment of new applications and services.
Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning related to servers.
Automation & Configuration Management
Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts/playbooks (using Ansible, Bash, Python, or equivalent) for: Patch deployment , Server hardening, Configuration compliance enforcement Routine operational tasks (start/stop services, log cleanup, backup triggers, etc.).
Ensure automation standards are consistent, reusable, and version-controlled.
Implement and maintain monitoring solutions
Proactively detect and resolve performance bottlenecks (CPU, memory, disk, I/O, network).
Set up alerting and escalation for critical events to reduce downtime and improve service availability.
Documentation & Reporting : Maintain updated SOPs, runbooks, configuration baselines, and automation playbooks., Provide weekly and monthly performance, compliance, and incident reports.
Emergency & On-Demand Support : Provide emergency support on a need basis beyond standard working hours, weekends, and holidays for critical incidents, outages, or security events, major upgradations , deployments . Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
~ Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on RHEL/Linux Administration experience.
Strong knowledge of RHEL 7/8/9 environments.
Proven expertise in server hardening, CA/VA remediation, and audit compliance.
Experience with RHEL Satellite Server for patch and lifecycle management.
Scripting/automation using Ansible, Bash, Python (or equivalent).
Familiarity with SIEM integration and security monitoring.
Sound knowledge of Linux security concepts (firewalls, SELinux, authentication).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Certifications: RHCSA, RHCE.
~ Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Engineer Replacement & Handover
Replacement initiation to begin 60 days prior in case of resource exit.
Outgoing engineer to provide minimum 15 days structured Knowledge Transfer (KT).
KT to include:
o Current server configurations and integrations.
o Ongoing security/compliance tasks (CA/VA, SIEM, PAMS, CAV, Satellite).
o SOPs, audit requirements, DR procedures.
Updated documentation mandatory before handover to ensure continuity.
