What Role Offers:

The position is a finance role working within the Revenue Recognition team. The team focusses on monitoring, maintaining and performing the global revenue recognition process for the company. This includes reviewing contracts, applying and advising on revenue recognition principles, and dealing with deferred income and prepayments.

A Revenue Recognition Analyst provides leadership, development and application of consistent revenue recognition rules, policies and assists in documenting accounting guidance for Micro Focus\' revenue generating activities on a global basis with specific reference to IFRS15 as well as handling contra revenue rebates, discounts, and returns. You will ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls and recommending efficiency and effectiveness improvements.

Responsibilities and Scope

  • Performing a variety of routine Revenue Recognition tasks, owning workload, producing high quality work, building on and applying knowledge, and making decisions based on policies, procedures and guidance from manager
  • Reviewing contracts and sales transactions to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with Financial Standards and Company Policy
  • Performing the month end reconciliation process, investigating variances between forecast and actual revenue, and preparing and advising on revenue-related journals and adjustments
  • Supporting negotiations by advising on revenue recognition and responding to internal queries on revenue recognition
  • Writing good quality memos on revenue treatment for large transactions
  • Maintaining an audit trail of complex revenue treatment of transactions and amendments, and responding to enquiries from auditors
  • Monitoring revenue, performing revenue analysis, preparing revenue reporting and providing data to support the revenue forecasting process
  • Collaborating with the broader Quote to Cash team and internal stakeholders to create a seamless, efficient end-to-end process and to fulfil Service Level Agreements
  • Identifying problems or inconsistencies and working with senior colleagues to resolve them in accordance with practice and precedence
  • Assisting with ad-hoc work and Quote to Cash projects as needed, including, but not limited to process improvement initiatives, internal control implementations and system changes
  • Contributing towards team goals, reporting on progress and analyzing the team performance towards operational metrics/KPIs
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of the End-to-end process for Revenue Recognition and Quote to Cash.
Education and Experience
  • University degree \xe2\x80\x93 preferably related to Finance / Accounting \xe2\x80\x93 or equivalent experience
  • Advanced degree, Accounting certification or Professional Finance certifications (e.g., Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), CA, ACCA or equivalent) are an advantage
  • Typically 2-3 years of experience in Revenue Recognition
  • Experience in a Global Technology or Software Company is preferred
  • Experience working in a Shared Service Centre is preferred
  • Experience across other areas of the Quote to Cash process is an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Fluency in the English language (mandatory)
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with different information systems and business applications
  • Good proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Good knowledge of Accounting principles (including revenue accounting standards), quote to cash process and financial analysis
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • High level of attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good time management and multi-tasking abilities, with an ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Highly organized and motivated team player.
