The Retail Trainer will be responsible for training youth in retail sales, customer service, store operations, and workplace etiquette to prepare them for employment in organized and semi-organized retail sectors. The role emphasizes practical skill-building, hands-on demonstrations, and strong focus on customer interaction skills.
2. Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery
Deliver engaging training sessions on:
Basics of Retail & Store Operations
Customer Service & Customer Handling
Sales Techniques & Product Pitching
Visual Merchandising & Store Display
Billing, POS Operations & Cash Handling
Stock Management & Inventory Processes
English for Retail & Workplace Communication
Grooming, Professional Etiquette & Workplace Discipline
Conduct role plays, simulations, mock sales interactions, and practical demonstrations.
Training Material & Assessment
Prepare training session plans, activity sheets, practical exercises, and assessments.
Maintain trainee performance records, assessment sheets, and daily training logs.
Trainee Development
Mentor and coach students in communication, confidence, and customer-handling behavior.
Conduct industry-style mock interviews and cashier simulations.
Provide additional support to slow learners and track improvement.
Centre Coordination
Support mobilization team during counselling and orientation of new retail batches.
Coordinate with placement team for job fairs, employer interactions, and OJT opportunities.
Maintain classroom discipline and ensure engaging learning environment.
Industry Linkages
Liaise with retail stores, supermarkets, and malls for exposure visits.
Stay updated with current retail industry trends, customer expectations, and sales techniques.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
Graduate in any discipline (Retail Management / Marketing preferred).
1-3 years of experience as a Retail Trainer or in retail industry roles such as:
Customer Service Associate
Store Executive
Sales Associate
Cashier
Floor Supervisor
Experience working with youth in training/skill development is an added advantage.
Strong communication skills in English and Hindi/local language.
