A Restaurant Steward supports restaurant and kitchen operations by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, assisting with guest requirements, and ensuring that all utensils and areas remain sanitary. This role is foundational for seamless service and enhances guest satisfaction through support and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, tables, and dining areas.
Assist with restocking serving stations and organize condiments, cutlery, and napkins.
Help kitchen staff prepare simple dishes (such as salads or desserts) and support overall efficiency.
Greet and direct guests, sometimes offering seating support and basic information.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation protocols.
Clear tables after guest use, reset with fresh linens and tableware, and keep menus clean and ready.
Assist with waste disposal and maintain organization in storage and kitchen areas.
Employer Requirements:
Senior secondary education or equivalent; hospitality diploma is beneficial but not always required.
Experience in hospitality, kitchen, or support roles is helpful but entry is possible with good attitude and reliability.
Physical stamina to move quickly and repeatedly lift, carry, or clean throughout shifts.
Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively, and provide courteous assistance to guests and colleagues.
Basic organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
Professional appearance and punctuality.
Willingness to learn and adapt to various support and cleaning tasks as required by management
