Job Description

The Cafe/Bistro Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the coffee house or bistro cafe, ensuring excellent customer service, smooth daily operations, staff management, quality control, and profitability. The role combines leadership, hospitality, and operational efficiency to deliver a memorable guest experience.

Key Responsibilities



1. Operations Management



Oversee day-to-day cafe operations including opening and closing procedures Ensure smooth coordination between service, kitchen, and billing Maintain cleanliness, ambience, and hygiene standards as per FSSAI norms Handle walk-in customers, reservations, and peak-hour operations

2. Staff Management



Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise cafe staff (service staff, baristas, cashiers) Conduct daily briefings and allocate duties Monitor staff performance, discipline, attendance, and grooming standards Resolve staff grievances and maintain a positive work culture

3. Customer Service



Ensure high-quality customer experience at all times Handle customer complaints, feedback, and special requests professionally Build customer loyalty through friendly service and engagement Monitor online reviews and customer feedback (Google, Instagram, etc.)

4. Sales & Revenue Management



Achieve sales targets and improve average billing value Implement upselling and cross-selling strategies Plan promotions, offers, and seasonal menus with owners/chefs Control discounts, complimentary items, and wastage

5. Inventory & Cost Control



Monitor stock levels of raw materials, beverages, and consumables Coordinate with vendors and ensure timely procurement Control food cost, beverage cost, and operational expenses Conduct regular stock verification and minimize pilferage

6. Financial & Reporting



Supervise billing, cash handling, and daily sales reconciliation Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales and expenses Coordinate with accounts for payroll and vendor payments

7. Compliance & Safety



Ensure compliance with FSSAI, local municipal, and labor regulations Maintain health, safety, and fire safety standards Ensure POSH and workplace conduct policies are followed

Qualifications & Skills



Graduate/Diploma in Hotel Management, Hospitality, or related field (preferred) 2-5 years of experience as a Cafe Manager, Restaurant Manager, or Supervisor Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills Good knowledge of coffee, beverages, and casual dining operations Basic knowledge of billing software and MS Excel Customer-focused, problem-solving attitude
