Job Description

The Restaurant Captain is responsible for overseeing the dining room operations, coordinating the service team, managing orders and billing, and ensuring high standards of guest satisfaction, cleanliness, and efficiency within their assigned station or section.

1. Guest Service & Satisfaction



Greet and Seat

guests warmly and manage seating arrangements.

Take Detailed Orders

for food and beverages, providing recommendations and upselling daily specials or high-margin items.

Manage Complaints

professionally, promptly resolving guest issues to ensure satisfaction throughout the meal. Present bills and

process payments

accurately.

2. Team & Service Coordination



Supervise and Coordinate

the service staff (waiters and bus staff) at assigned tables.

Delegate tasks

like refilling water, clearing plates, and resetting tables. Ensure the

proper sequence of service

is followed (e.g., starter, main course, dessert).

Train and mentor

new service staff on service standards, grooming, and restaurant SOPs. Organize the

duty roster

of service staff.

3. Operations & Standards



Coordinate with the kitchen and bar

to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders. Monitor and maintain the

cleanliness and hygiene

of the dining area and service stations. Ensure all

china, glass, and silverware

are clean and properly set before service. Monitor

inventory levels

of operating supplies and assist with requisitions. Ensure adherence to all restaurant

SOPs

(Standard Operating Procedures) and safety guidelines.

Key Qualifications and Skills



Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required; a Degree or Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology is a significant plus.

Experience:

Proven experience (often 2-5 years) in a server or supervisory role within a food and beverage setting.
