Resident Medical Officer (RMO) - NICU / PICU

Department:

Pediatrics

Reporting To:

Consultant Pediatrician / Medical Superintendent

Job Purpose:



To provide round-the-clock medical supervision and patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), ensuring quality and timely management of critically ill neonates and pediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:Clinical Care:



Monitor and manage all admitted patients in NICU/PICU under the guidance of the Consultant Pediatrician. Perform initial assessment and daily clinical rounds for all patients. Ensure continuous observation and documentation of vital signs, oxygen therapy, IV fluids, medications, and other clinical parameters. Assist in resuscitation, intubation, mechanical ventilation, and emergency procedures as required. Support in managing neonatal and pediatric emergencies (e.g., sepsis, respiratory distress, seizures, shock, etc.). Ensure proper infection control and aseptic techniques during all procedures.

Documentation & Reporting:



Maintain updated and accurate patient records, treatment charts, progress notes, and handover details. Ensure timely documentation of all critical events, interventions, and consultant communications. Prepare discharge summaries in coordination with the consultant.

Coordination:



Coordinate patient care with consultants, nursing staff, and allied departments (lab, radiology, pharmacy). Communicate effectively with patient attendants regarding patient condition and updates (as per hospital policy).

Emergency Response:



Attend all code blue / emergency calls in NICU/PICU. Ensure readiness of all emergency equipment (crash cart, defibrillator, suction machine, ventilator, etc.).

Administrative Duties:



Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, biomedical waste management, and infection control policies. Participate in departmental meetings, training programs, and audits. Ensure timely shift handovers and maintain discipline and punctuality.

Qualification & Experience:



Qualification:

MBBS/BAMS/BHMS

Experience:

Minimum 1-3 years of experience in NICU/PICU or critical care unit preferred.

Skills:

Clinical judgment and emergency handling Neonatal and pediatric resuscitation Team coordination and communication Record keeping and reporting

Work Schedule:



Rotational Shifts (Morning / Evening / Night) as per hospital duty roster.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
