As a part of Iron Making Research group, you are expected to: 1)Generate research output related to utilization of alternate reductants to augment existing blast furnace process and reduce CO2 footprint of the same. 2)Understand and enhance dynamics of processes in use in alternate ironmaking technologies. 3)Conduct experiments and computational simulations that can be converted into models to optimize different parameters related to ironmaking processes. 4)Aid cross-functional teams in strategizing new blast furnace operating philosophies and ironmaking technology development/adoption. 5)Develop laboratories and pilot scale experimental facilities. Skills Skill Fulfill the long-term aspirations/ strategies of blast furnace ironmaking Grow lab scale technologies from lab scale to pilot and industrial levels Analyze and solve problems related to ironmaking using a thorough research approach focused on experiments/ mathematical models. Develop and regularize unique solutions to existing challenges in blast furnace ironmaking. Identify work done and shortcomings in existing approaches, generate new ideas, perform experiments/ develop new models. Primary skill: Chemical reaction kinetics and thermodynamics, chemical reaction engineering, heat and mass balance, processes at high temperatures and pressures. Secondary skill: Experiments in physical models. Blast furnace (or alternate ironmaking) process knowledge. Other details Minimum Education: M.Tech./M.S./M.E./Ph.D. Branch: Chemical, Metallurgy, Petroleum, Energy, Environment, Mechanical Experience: 1. Experience of 3 - 11 years in reaction engineering processes. Experience with gas-solid reactions is a plus. 2. Chemical process experimental and simulation modelling. 3. Good working knowledge of ASPEN. 4. Knowledge of iron oxide reduction under different reducing environments is a plus. 5. Knowledge of any programming language like C, C++, Python, MATLAB, etc. and Microsoft Excel.
