About our Team:



The Research Integrity Team at Sage is responsible for the resolution of publication ethics issues across the Sage journals portfolio. We ensure that post-publication concerns are resolved in line with the guidance issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Sage policies. Our collaborative efforts with external editors, society partners, and internal colleagues in editorial, peer review and production roles ensure that emerging threats to research integrity are detected prior to publication to safeguard the integrity of the scholarly record. Aresearch integrity expert with excellent understanding of research, publication ethics and be familiar with industry best practices in these areas? Proficientat managing multiple expectations from global stakeholders Experienced intraining others, developing processes and documentation to streamline operations within publishing? A strong and collaborative communicator,with robust problem-solving skills

Key Accountabilities:





Working with the Associate Director, Research Integrity, and (Senior) Research Integrity Manager to implement and embed Sage's policies, processes, internal and external resources around research, pre-publication and post-publication ethics Effectively supervise a team of research integrity specialists working on publication ethics cases and escalations from other Sage teams Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of Sage in investigating publication ethics cases and bringing them to resolution in a timely manner. Use judgement in escalating sensitive and controversial cases, ensuring that the appropriate staff members are involved and key internal stakeholders are apprised of situations that may pose a risk to Sage. Working with the (Senior) Research Integrity Manager, provide training and development to stakeholders who may encounter breaches of publication ethics Provide regular reports on cases and trends to the Associate Director, Research Integrity and identify ways to be more effective and efficient at case resolution Create resources and training for research integrity specialists, to ensure a high level of expertise within the team, and support their professional development

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:



Extensive experience of working on a range of publication ethics cases in journals. Demonstrate understanding of operational needs of a specialist team in journals publishing Direct experience of line management Experience of developing research integrity specialist skills in others via training, documentation and resources High attention to detail and organisation skills to manage multiple priorities Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and confidently Strong persuasion skills in pressured situations to ensure external parties adopt Sage's recommended actions to resolve ethics cases. Understanding of international research best practices and applicable regulations, the journal publication process and the wider scholarly communication landscape. Problem solving skills, including working effectively with external parties who may be adversarial and/or difficult to reach resolution with. Familiarity with ScholarOne and the Unusual Activity Detection tool is desirable. A scientific research background is highly desirable
