Under general direction, performs engineering work in Research and Development including design, product characteristics and the documentation necessary to produce and reproduce testing standards. Assists in conducting studies and analysis to determine the feasibility of various engineering approaches. Defines concepts and criteria to resolve major problems in current programs or approaches. Plans and conducts experiments to measure the body of scientific knowledge on topics related to Wind flow modelling. Projects require substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art engineering Atmospheric modelling principals and theories, and uses professional concepts and procedures to solve a wide range of research based problems.

  • Identifies fundamental knowledge needed to enhance UL\xe2\x80\x99s weather data product and support the strategy of the aligned categories.
  • Exercises a high degree of judgment in formulating, evaluating, and correlating research concepts and developing new and improved techniques and methods.
  • Analyzes product data results in order to determine causes of problems and develop solutions, and evaluates technical specifications and factors related to process or design objectives.
  • Stays ahead of changing technologies, in the field by reading journals and scientific publications, and attending academic conferences.
  • Plan, design and complete initial and follow-up procedures as needed to test and validate results.
  • Monitoring of HPC system and deliverables.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
What makes you a great fit::
  • University Degree in Atmospheric science or meteorology, or other related technology discipline plus generally five years of direct related work experience.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of Weather research modelling disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain wind resources and applied knowledge and skills.
  • Experience and working knowledge on Weather Research forecast, Python, R, NCL, CDO
  • Ability to collaborate with peers, and work directly with Research Scientists and other team members in order to complete a project from start to finish.
  • Hands on working Linux platform
