Prime Video is changing the way millions of customers interact with video content. We're looking for a talented Video Codec Engineer to join our team in developing and optimizing video compression technologies for Prime Video's streaming infrastructure.



Key job responsibilities



As a Codec Engineer at Prime Video, you'll work on encoder/decoder solutions that impact billions of streaming hours annually. You'll collaborate with team members to optimize codec performance and implement effective video delivery solutions across various platforms.



A day in the life

o Implement and optimize video compression algorithms o Assist in benchmarking codec performance across different platforms o Collaborate with team members on video quality assessment metrics and encoding algorithms o Contribute to the integration of video processing workloads into the streaming infrastructure o Help implement production-ready solutions o Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews o Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code

Internal job description

Basic qualifications

1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

1+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Solid understanding of video coding standards (H.264, HEVC, AV1)

Preferred qualifications

1+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

o Experience with video encoding optimization and profiling tools o Knowledge of video quality assessment and metrics o Familiarity with open-source video encoders and FFmpeg o Experience working on video processing systems o Experience with AI-assisted C/C++ code development o Interest in technical innovation and video coding standards
