Job Profile
Prepare research proposals, and support design of research on sustainable coastal agriculture systems (e.g., salt tolerant crops, brackish water irrigation, aquaculture agriculture integration, khazan ecosystems)
Plan and execute field surveys/trials in coastal zones: sample collection (soil, water, crops), monitor crop/plant performance, manage data collection.
Analyse data (statistical/graphical), prepare technical reports, presentations for stakeholders including farmers and policy agencies, training module, publications.
Engage with farming communities and extension agencies in coastal rural areas; support capacity-building/training of farmers.
Engage with partner organizations (government, NGO, communities) as required.
Business travel depending on project requirements.
Support other relevant projects as and when required.
Experience
1 - 3 Years
Qualification
- MSc (Agricultural Sciences / Agronomy / Soil Science / Coastal Agriculture / Sustainability and Agri- Solution or equivalent.
- Experience (1 3 years) in coastal zone/agriculture interface- field work in coastal/rural settings- sampling & monitoring. Fresher can also apply depending on their allied dissertation works in masters.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel- R/Python- GIS)
- Good communication (written & oral)- ability to write reports and interact with rural communities.
Skills
Knowledge of saline/brackish water systems- salt tolerant crops- aquaculture agriculture integration in coastal belt. Knowledge on rice-based ecosystem and nature-based solutions- FPO.
