Role Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and culturally aware
Research Associate with a background in Mass Communication or Journalism
to help drive CHIS's media engagement, narrative strategy, and content research initiatives. The role involves a mix of research, storytelling, media critique, and civilizational thinking, with a strong focus on
reframing narratives about Hindu identity, dharma, family, gender, and society
.
Key Responsibilities:
Research & Content Development
Conduct media and discourse analysis (TV, OTT, news, social media) from an Indic civilizational lens.
Research and co-author articles, policy briefs, or whitepapers related to narrative shifts, public discourse, and perception management.
Track and document trends in representation of Hindu identity, family, gender, and dharma in mainstream and alternative media.
Storytelling & Media Output
Develop narrative-based content: short explainer articles, media commentaries, opinion columns, podcast scripts, and storyboards.
Assist in scripting and curating high-impact visual content (reels, YouTube shorts, documentaries, infographics).
Work closely with the Narrative Lab team to create accessible and culturally resonant media.
Collaborations & Outreach
Liaise with journalists, influencers, and scholars to amplify research in popular formats.
Support in organizing media workshops, narrative retreats, or panel discussions.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's in
Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies
, or a related field.
Strong research and analytical skills with a flair for storytelling.
Familiarity with Hindu cultural and civilizational discourse (or a willingness to engage deeply).
Experience in writing media critiques, or cultural commentary (or a willingness to learn).
Comfort working across formats - text, script, digital, podcast, or video.
Basic digital media production (Canva, podcast editing, video scripting) is a plus.
Preferred Traits:
Deep curiosity about Indic knowledge systems, gender & law, or media ethics.
Comfort engaging in ideological discourse with balance and clarity.
Ability to simplify complex ideas into youth-accessible formats.
