Purpose of the Role Support the Corn breeder in Corn breeding activities as per the JD Position: Research Associate - Corn Location: Davanagere Reporting : Senior Breeder - Corn Qualifications: MSc Agri in Genetics and Plant Breeding Experience : 1-2 years\' experience in breeding : Efficiently manage the Research Station in Davanagere/Haveri Execute the breeding nursery plan given by breeder Management of Breeding nursery, disease screening nursery and trials- Sowing, crop agronomy, pollination and harvesting Collection of required data from breeding nurseries - flowering, DUS characters and disease scores Ensure the production of required quantity of hybrid seeds for trials and breeder seed with acceptable genetic purity. Preparation of trial kits as decided by breeder - randomization, kit preparation etc Selection of hybrids and inbreds suitable for the region having disease resistance and drought tolerance Station trial management, data collection and analysis - drought trials and irrigated trials Artificial screening of hybrids and inbreds for Diplodia Ear Rot Labour and Farm management
