Role Summary:
Professor Subhabrata Moitra at the Bagchi School of Public Health, Ahmedabad University, is seeking a motivated and self-driven Project Research Assistant to work on the ARISE Project (Allergen sensitivity and its Role in RespIratory function, Symptom control, and quality of lifE in asthma). The ARISE project is a multicentre, prospective cohort study aimed at understanding the influence of allergen sensitivity on lung function, symptom control, and quality of life among adult asthma patients in India. The study will recruit participants from Ahmedabad and Kolkata, integrating data on allergen sensitisation, lung function, airway inflammation, environmental exposures, and psychosocial factors to identify determinants of poor asthma control. The Project Research Assistant will play a key role in coordinating participant recruitment and follow-up, assisting in clinical data collection, managing longitudinal datasets, and contributing to manuscript preparation and dissemination. The candidate will also assist the Principal Investigator in providing regular updates to investigators, patients, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Coordinate participant enrolment and follow-up in collaboration with clinical partners.
Assist in data collection (follow-up with the participants, questionnaire survey, and lung function assessments).
Manage datasets and perform regular quality checks.
Prepare progress reports, manuscripts, and presentation materials.
Support project logistics, ethics documentation, and communication with the stakeholders.
Key Skills
Project coordination and research management, including ethics submissions and logistics.
Communication skills for participant engagement and follow-up interviews.
Scientific writing and publication experience in high-impact international journals.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multi-site projects.
Technical proficiency in MS Office, EndNote, and reference management tools.
Familiarity with respiratory health research, including questionnaire-based studies.
Qualifications
Essential Qualification: First-Class Master's degree (60% or higher) in Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, Epidemiology, or Allied Health Sciences with at least 1 year of experience in academics/research
Desirable Qualification
High-level communication and scientific writing skills, along with a proven record of publication in a first quartile (Q1) journal in any field of health/allied health sciences
Prior research experience in respiratory diseases, particularly epidemiology of airway diseases
Experience in multi-site collaboration
Experience in presenting research papers in national/international conferences
