Job Description


Independently manage allocated workstreams on quantitative and quantitative applied research on agricultural and air quality issues in North-western states of India. Identifying key research question(s), designing the research approach/framework, collection of data and data analyses using appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative, and presenting the analyses in a coherent narrative in different formats such as journal publications, reports, op-ed articles, and consultation meetings. Travel to field sites, whenever necessary, to conduct fieldwork including focus group discussions, interviews, meetings, training, and gathering primary information. Regularly track policy measures taken by the government and their implementation status that connects sustainable agriculture and air quality in India and globally. Write high-quality research reports, publish in leading peer-reviewed journals and generate other knowledge products for the different audiences such as blogs, policy briefs in regular intervals. Establishing and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders ranging from research organisations, experts in agricultural finance and insurance, grass-root organisations, and government departments. Support the senior researchers in conceptualising new projects, development of high-impact research proposals, stakeholder engagement events and applications for research and general donor funding. Support effective outreach of research outputs through coordination with the outreach team, engagement with a broader network of stakeholders, and concerned policymakers. Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and training programmes for a comprehensive understanding of developments relevant to the agriculture and air quality sector. Shortlisting Criteria Bachelor s/Master s degree in engineering, environmental policy, agricultural economics , and related streams. 1-2 years experience in policy research Relevant research experience in the domain of agriculture and/or air quality management. Experience in dealing with stakeholders (farmers, grassroots workers, government, etc.) Experience in field research, for data collection/training of enumerators/sampling of households/pilot testing/monitoring activities (preferred) Familiarity with Punjab s contribution to India s agriculture sector, the state s agricultural policy framework , and crop residue management is desirable Must be proficient in Punjabi, Hindi , and English Must have strong communication skills for effective, efficient, and adaptive verbal and written communication, and active listening Experience in using statistical software R/Stata/Python Must have strong research skills the capability to carry out systematic literature review, familiarity with research methods is a bonus
