Skills:

#Golang #DistributedSystems #Microservices #Fintech #CloudNative #SoftwareArchitecture #EngineeringLeadership

Are You The One?

You are a seasoned technologist with a product mindset -- equally comfortable designing a distributed ledger service or simplifying a compliance-driven API for partner integration. You understand that technical excellence is not just about code -- it's about systems that scale safely, teams that deliver predictably, and decisions that align with long-term product goals.

You will be a

technical north star

for multiple product and platform teams -- defining architecture, aligning technical strategies with business outcomes, and mentoring technical leads and senior engineers to raise the engineering bar.

You Will Contribute To

Domain and Architecture Leadership

Deeply understand MatchMove's financial domains:

card issuance, payments orchestration, remittance, and ledger systems

. Translate domain knowledge into

bounded contexts, canonical data models, and API standards

. Define

long-term technical charters

-- reliability, scalability, observability, and developer experience -- and drive measurable progress across teams. Champion

clean architecture and domain-driven design (DDD)

principles across services. Own

cross-domain design decisions

(e.g., transaction reconciliation, settlement workflows, compliance integration).

Engineering Excellence and Technical Quality

Lead the

engineering excellence charter

-- promoting consistency in code quality, testing standards, observability, and security hygiene. Establish

organization-wide guidelines

for code review practices, CI/CD pipelines, performance testing, and failure-mode design. Use metrics (e.g., test coverage %, release defect rate, MTTR) to quantify and continuously improve engineering outcomes. Mentor technical leads and senior engineers to grow as multipliers -- enabling them to own design reviews, incident postmortems, and production reliability. Enable

Generative AI-assisted engineering workflows

responsibly for documentation, static analysis, and regression detection.

KPI Ownership and Delivery Excellence

Define and track key

engineering KPIs

across services: + Service SLAs (availability, latency, throughput, error rate)
+ Deployment frequency and lead time
+ Mean time to recovery (MTTR) and mean time to detect (MTTD)
+ Security and compliance readiness metrics (audit findings, vulnerability scores)
Partner with SRE and Platform teams to drive

reliability reviews

, capacity planning, and performance benchmarks. Conduct

architectural fitness functions

to ensure services scale predictably with user and transaction growth.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Influence

Partner closely with

Product, Compliance, Risk, and Business teams

to translate functional requirements into resilient technical designs. Represent engineering trade-offs and decision frameworks in

executive and product forums

. Lead cross-functional technical initiatives -- e.g., multi-region rollout, PCI-DSS v4 compliance, or API gateway migration. Collaborate with external vendors, network partners, and regulators on secure integrations and audits.
Create documentation and architectural artifacts (ADR, RFCs, playbooks) that align teams on d technical direction.

Hands-on Technical Contribution

Architect, prototype, and profile

Go-based distributed services

for high-throughput, low-latency financial flows. Deeply understand Go's concurrency, synchronization, and memory models to design performant services. Conduct deep-dive performance tuning sessions using pprof, benchstat, and flamegraphs. Lead postmortems and fault-injection sessions to strengthen systemic resilience. Guide teams in designing APIs, SDKs, and platform components that are modular, self-documenting, and observable.

Responsibilities

Own and evolve the

backend architecture roadmap

across multiple business domains. Drive

multi-team technical initiatives

ensuring coherence across microservices, data models, and d infrastructure. Serve as

architectural authority

in design reviews, incident reviews, and roadmap discussions. Partner with Engineering Managers and Product Leads to ensure technical investments are prioritized alongside product delivery. Maintain

technical debt registers

and remediation plans that improve long-term developer velocity. Be the

technical conscience

-- balancing delivery pace with operational integrity, auditability, and security.

Requirements

8-12 years

of backend engineering experience, with at least 5 in

Go

in high-scale, distributed systems. Proven experience architecting and scaling

financial systems

-- payments, wallets, or card networks. Expert understanding of

Go concurrency, synchronization, and runtime tuning

. Experience designing for

multi-region deployments, high availability, and disaster recovery

. Strong grounding in

relational data design

(PostgreSQL/MySQL) and event-driven patterns . Practical knowledge of

security, encryption, and compliance standards

(PCI-DSS, MAS, ISO 27001). Experienced in

observability and SRE practices

(Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana). Comfortable working with

IaC, Kubernetes, service mesh, and API gateways

. Demonstrated ability to

mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction

at scale. Strong communication skills - including ability to listen to the needs of others and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner, and present effectively in both oral and written presentations to all levels in the organization. High level of energy and a desire to thrive in a large, complex, fast-paced organization; ability to handle multiple projects under pressure. Strong innovation acumen with expertise in enterprise software development stack, industry tech best practices and data driven decisioning. Are comfortable in working in ambiguously defined problem spaces, can identify the most valuable areas to direct your energy, and have delivered tangible results, as demonstrated in prior experiences.

Brownie Points

Domain experience in

payments orchestration, card processing, or ledgering systems

. Experience with

AI-assisted engineering tools

(AWS Q, CodeWhisperer, Copilot). Contributions to

Go open-source projects

or speaking at engineering conferences. Experience driving

engineering metrics

(availability, defect density, velocity) as measurable business outcomes. Prior experience in

regulated fintech environments

with compliance and audit exposure.
