Job Description

Desired Qualification: M.Tech/BTech/PhD (Mech / Manufacturing/ Chemical/Electrical) or postgraduation in statistics Preferred Qualification: MTech (Battery Engineering) Total years of Experience : 3 after M.Tech Relevant Years of Experience : 3 years Purpose of the job / Objective: Develop processes and methods to improve the reliability of the cells by testing of raw materials, process and relate to DFMEA. To contribute towards cell robustness for different applications. This position is responsible for developing understanding of the different use case of the cells and Lead the Design for Reliability workstream. Reliability of the cells depend on the Design parameters, raw materials used, process capability and application/abuse conditions. In this regard, the Reliability team will work on Cell design and manufacturing to improve robustness of the cells Design procedures for Design Reliability Develop understanding of critical failure modes and methods to improve cell safety Input material and production process identification. Implement best practices related to sampling of input materials, in-process semi-finished goods and final products Documentation of all the involved steps to make everyone aware of be best practices. Documentation of failed events to avoid reptation of failure incidents Roles and Responsibility: This is an opportunity to work in EESL\'s Cell design and development team which is responsible for the design and testing of EESL\'s Li-ion battery cells and development of new cell test methods. This candidate\'s primary role will be to find process limitations, identifying the critical operating conditions, failure documentation, best practices defining etc. The ideal candidate will exhibit outstanding attention to detailed manufacturing methodologies, interest in developing inspection skills, and aptitude for electrical and mechanical chemical behaviour of Battery cells, which are all required to identify subtle issues that could impact EESL\'s battery cell performance. The candidate will work alongside a diverse team of Scientist, cell simulation engineers and technicians to advance technology that provides sustainable solutions for transportation and energy storage. This individual must demonstrate the desire to drive continuous internal process improvement methods through critical thinking skills. Write Cell development process DFMEA, PFMEA, DFSS etc. Ensure the highest possible process accuracy. Maintain the quality of production with out deviation depending on the time or engineer Develop methods to collect data from different stages in the production and corelate to product reliability Weibull analysis and Monte Carlo simulations for statistical analysis of critical failure modes Implement machine learning and other methods to identify process deviations at an early stage Intimate the relevant teams whenever corrective actions are needed in the incoming goods / process / FG Work with the customers to understand their requirements and develop test standards that mimic real life application conditions Mandatory Skills: Hands on experience working with battery cell/pack manufacturing unit. Understand Cell electrochemistry with different constraints and materials used in testing of lithium-ion battery cells/packs. Experience in Creating DFMEA, PFMEA, DFSS documents. Knowledge of national and international standard applicable for cells and battery pack (IEC 62133, IS 16046, UL1642, AIS048, AIS135). Statistics experience. Excellent skill set at Excel data analysis. Ability to implement big data analytics and build correlation analysis Knowledge on accelerated test methods (electrical, mechanical, chemical and others) Desired Skills: Experience working with Pilot line development team focusing on lithium-ion Cell/battery development.
