The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality bedside care in the ICU and general wards. The role includes monitoring patients, administering medications, assisting doctors, and ensuring safe nursing practices in line with hospital standards.
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments.
Record vital signs, intake/output, and monitor patient conditions.
Identify and immediately report any changes in patient status.
2. Patient Care (Ward & ICU)
Provide routine bedside care (hygiene, feeding assistance, mobility support).
Administer IV medications, oral medications, and injections as per doctor's orders.
Maintain medication charts and treatment sheets accurately.
Assist during rounds and help execute physician instructions.
3. ICU Responsibilities
(for ICU-posted nurses)
Monitor critically ill patients continuously.
Operate and manage ICU equipment such as:
Ventilators
Cardiac monitors
Infusion and syringe pumps
Provide care for mechanically ventilated patients.
Support emergency procedures like CPR (if required) and maintain the crash cart.
4. Ward Responsibilities
Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, and transfers.
Manage daily nursing activities, patient files, and progress notes.
Coordinate with doctors, physiotherapists, and allied health staff.
Provide discharge instructions and patient education.
5. Infection Control & Safety
Follow strict infection control practices.
Ensure proper biomedical waste (BMW) segregation and disposal.
Maintain cleanliness of nursing stations, equipment, and patient areas.
6. Documentation & Handover
Maintain accurate nursing notes and updates.
Give clear handover to the next shift, covering all patient details.
7. Patient & Family Interaction
Communicate politely and professionally with patients and caregivers.
Provide guidance on treatment plans, nursing care, and post-care instructions.
Qualifications
B.Sc Nursing or GNM
Valid State Nursing Council Registration
ICU or ward experience preferred (freshers also considered)
Skills Required
Good clinical knowledge and nursing skills
Ability to handle ICU equipment (if posted in ICU)
Strong communication and teamwork
Compassionate patient handling
Ability to work in rotating shifts
Shift Requirements
Rotational duties: Morning, Afternoon, Night
Weekend and holiday shifts based on schedule
