Bata India is the largest retailer and leading manufacturer of footwear in India, and it is part of the Bata Shoe Organization.
Incorporated as Bata Shoe Company Private Limited in 1931, the company was set up initially as a small operation in Konnagar (near Calcutta) in 1932. In January 1934, the foundation stone for the first building of Bata's operation - now called the Bata. In the years that followed, the overall site was doubled in area. This township is popularly known as Batanagar. It was also the first manufacturing facility in the Indian shoe industry to receive the ISO: 9001 certification.
The Company went public in 1973 when it changed its name to Bata India Limited. Today, Bata India has established itself as India's largest footwear retailer. Its retail network of over 1375 stores gives it a reach / coverage that no other footwear company can match. The stores are present in good locations and can be found in all the metros, mini-metros and towns.
Bata's smart looking new stores supported by a range of better quality products are aimed at offering a superior shopping experience to its customers.
The Company also operates a large non-retail distribution network through its urban wholesale division and caters to millions of customers through over 30,000 dealers.



Key Responsibilities


1.

Regional Leadership & Strategy:


o Develop and implement the strategic roadmap for the COCO Division within the assigned region.
o Align regional operations with the company's overall objectives, ensuring consistency in execution and performance.
o Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and address potential challenges.
2.

Team Leadership:


o Lead and oversee a team of Area Sales Managers (ASMs), fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
o Provide guidance and mentorship to ASMs to enhance their leadership skills and drive their teams' effectiveness.
o Conduct regular reviews and performance evaluations, setting clear goals and expectations for the team.
3.

Operational Excellence:


o Ensure operational efficiency across all company-owned stores in the region, driving adherence to Bata's brand standards and policies.
o Conduct periodic audits and store visits to assess compliance, customer service quality, and operational standards.
o Identify and address bottlenecks to streamline processes and enhance overall performance.
4.

Sales & Profitability:


o Drive sales performance and profitability for the region, ensuring stores meet and exceed revenue and margin targets.
o Collaborate with ASM's to implement region-specific sales strategies and promotional initiatives.
o Analyse sales data and market insights to inform decision-making and improve results.
5.

Customer Experience:


o Champion the delivery of a superior customer experience across the region, ensuring consistency and quality in every store.
o Address escalated customer issues and feedback, implementing strategies to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
6.

Inventory & Visual Merchandising:


o Ensure effective inventory management across the region, minimizing stockouts and overstock situations.
o Work with the merchandising and supply chain teams to ensure stores are stocked with the right mix of products.
o Guide ASMs in maintaining high visual merchandising standards to drive footfall and conversions.
7.

Compliance & Risk Management:


o Ensure that all stores within the region comply with legal, financial, and operational requirements.
o Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard operations and brand reputation.
8.

Budgeting & Cost Control:


o Develop and manage the regional budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
o Monitor and control costs to maximize profitability without compromising operational excellence.
9.

Reporting & Communication:


o Prepare and present detailed reports on regional performance to senior leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and actionable recommendations.
o Maintain clear and open communication channels between the corporate office and the regional team.
