As the Regional Employee Relations (ER) Partner you will lead and conduct thorough investigations into employee relations matters, and coordinate investigations by HRBPs in the assigned region, ensuring adherence to company policies, labor law, and regulatory requirements. You will serve as a trusted regional and local ER advisor, providing guidance and support to local HR teams, business leaders, and employees in your region. Based in India, you will collaborate closely with the Country HR Head to provide comprehensive ER-related HR support specifically for production sites and local operations, ensuring compliance with local labor laws and representing our organization in interactions with external parties, including government agencies and labor unions.
Responsibility for Employee Relations Case Investigations of defined region:
Ensure oversight of regional Employee Relations cases received via Merck's global SpeakUp Line and other channels, and primarily conduct and/or coordinate investigations (either via own investigation or involvement of local HR or external legal counsel)
Lead, perform, and coordinate comprehensive investigations into employee complaints, including allegations of misconduct, leadership, harassment, retaliation, discrimination, or other employment-related issues (including allegations of unlawful conduct)
Gather and analyze relevant information through interviews, document reviews, and other investigative techniques to determine the facts and circumstances surrounding each case.
Ensure that investigations are fair, impartial, and conducted within designated timelines, maintaining the confidentiality of all parties involved to the extent possible
India-specific Employee Relations Support:
Provide dedicated support for local Employee Relations issues in India, addressing unique challenges and ensuring compliance with local labor laws and regulations
Represent the organization in interactions with Indian government agencies, labor unions, and other external parties to advocate for the organization's interests.
Assist in managing employee grievances and conflict resolution processes specific to the Indian workforce, ensuring fair treatment and adherence to company policies.
Conduct local/regional training sessions for HR teams and management on local/regional ER practices and legal requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Employee Relations or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of labor laws and regulations, with strong legal knowledge being essential.
Preferably a Bachelor of Arts in Law (BALLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
Proven track record in conducting investigations and managing employee relations cases.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
