1. Design and develop refrigeration systems and components (compressors,
condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, piping layouts, etc.)
2. Perform thermal and fluid flow calculations, including heat load and pressure drop
analysis.
3. Select appropriate refrigerants, components, and materials based on
performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
4. Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings
using software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
5. Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards (ASHRAE, ISO, UL, etc.) and
environmental regulations (EPA, F-Gas, etc.).
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, project
managers, and manufacturing personnel.
7. Support prototype testing, validation, and troubleshooting of refrigeration
systems.
8. Document engineering calculations, design reviews, and technical reports.
9. Continuously improve designs for cost, reliability, manufacturability, and energy
efficiency.
10. Good understanding of design, development and validation of Vapor compression
systems and Component level design simulation using tools for heat exchangers,
metering devices etc
11. To have an interface with outside vendors for component selection,
manufacturing, and assembly.
12. Design verifications / debugging / design validation to be done to satisfy the end
user requirements
13. Minimum understanding of alternative refrigeration technologies (Thermoelectric,
Absorption systems, Sterling engines etc.)
14. Being updated with the latest manufacturing techniques and drawing standards
liaising with other departments to ensure that the required information is
available when needed and customer requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
