We are looking for a
Reel Editor
who is fast, creative, and has a strong understanding of how stories work on short-form video platforms. The ideal candidate must have over
5 years of experience in editing social-first content
, with a cinematic eye, strong sense of rhythm, and knowledge of what drives engagement on Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and other short-form video platforms.
Role Overview
The Reel Editor will be responsible for creating
high-quality, visually engaging, and storytelling-driven short-form videos
for Spark Plug Digital's client brands and in-house projects.
The editor should understand
social media trends, pacing, and audience psychology
while maintaining
brand tonality and cinematic aesthetics.
This role requires someone with a blend of
technical skill, creative intuition, and speed.
Key Responsibilities
1. Editing and Storytelling
Edit short-form videos, reels, teasers, promos, and social cuts for multiple brands.
Maintain emotional pacing, rhythm, and attention span throughout the edit.
Select, trim, and arrange clips creatively to tell stories that engage instantly.
Work closely with the creative and marketing teams to understand campaign goals and narrative direction.
2. Social Media and Trend Understanding
Stay updated with
Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts.
Adapt brand stories into trending formats without losing authenticity.
Have a clear sense of how to balance
aesthetics and algorithm,
what hooks viewers and keeps them watching.
3. Motion Graphics and Design Integration
Add dynamic text, transitions, effects, and animations to elevate storytelling.
Collaborate with motion graphics artists and designers to integrate brand elements seamlessly.
4. Audio and Music Syncing
Choose or edit soundtracks that enhance emotion and rhythm.
Mix dialogue, music, and sound effects for clean, engaging audio output.
Maintain sync precision and ensure smooth cuts to the beat.
5. Collaboration and Delivery
Work closely with cinematographers, creative heads, and content strategists.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining consistent quality and speed.
Deliver versions optimized for different platforms (Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn).

What We Are Looking For
Minimum 5 years of experience in
video editing for digital or film-based projects.
Proven ability to edit
reels and short-form content
with narrative precision and visual rhythm.
Strong understanding of
social media trends, visual storytelling, and pacing.
Familiarity with
AI-based editing tools
while maintaining human creative direction.
Good design sense - understands typography, framing, and transitions.
Attention to detail, speed, and consistency under tight deadlines.
Good to Have
Experience in editing
music videos, digital ads, or celebrity interviews.
Basic knowledge of
graphic design or motion graphics.
Understanding of
sound sync, foley, and cinematic soundscapes.
Interest in creative storytelling, culture, and evolving digital trends.
