The Reefer Container Surveyor & Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for inspecting both
new and in-service refrigerated (reefer) containers
to ensure they meet stringent technical, operational, and regulatory standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of temperature-sensitive cargo by performing detailed pre-trip inspections (PTI), verifying refrigeration unit performance, and reporting on the container's condition. The position requires
regular travel
to various depots, ports, and client locations as part of the inspection and quality assurance process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspection of New and Existing Containers:
Survey newly manufactured containers to verify build quality, specification compliance, and operational readiness before deployment.
Conduct routine and ad-hoc inspections of existing containers to assess wear, damage, cleanliness, and performance.
2. Pre-Trip Inspections (PTI):
Perform thorough checks of reefer units, including compressors, fans, sensors, wiring, and control panels.
Ensure all components are operational and properly configured to the required set-points.
3. Cleanliness and Physical Condition:
Inspect containers for cleanliness, ensuring they are free from debris, odors, or labeling residue.
Identify and report physical damage, missing parts, corrosion, or compromised insulation.
4. Refrigeration Unit & Temperature Verification:
Check refrigerant and lubricant levels, test unit operation at multiple temperature set-points (e.g., -18C).
Monitor temperature accuracy and cooling cycle performance to ensure consistent functionality.
5. Documentation & Media Collection:
Take high-quality photographs and videos to document inspection findings.
Ensure all documentation is clear, complete, and correctly labeled for records and reporting.
6. Reporting:
Generate detailed inspection reports summarizing container condition, PTI results, and any corrective actions required.
Communicate findings with operations, logistics teams, and clients as necessary.
7. Standards Compliance:
Ensure containers comply with relevant industry standards for refrigerated cargo.
Monitor hygiene and regulatory standards, especially for food-grade or pharmaceutical shipments.
8. Record Keeping:
Maintain organized records of all inspections, including supporting media and corrective action logs.
9. Travel Requirements:
Travel regularly to ports, container depots, and manufacturing sites to conduct inspections and support quality assurance processes.
Adapt to varying work environments, including shipyards, terminals, and client locations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Certification:
Bueno Veritas or IICL certification preferred (But not a mandate)
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, electrical insulation, mechanical components, and reefer container operations.
Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy in identifying faults, damages, and performance deviations.
Reporting & Communication:
Proficiency in creating clear, technical reports and effectively communicating with logistics teams and clients.
Problem-Solving:
Analytical skills to assess technical data and recommend effective solutions for performance or compliance issues.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
