LP Handler - Receiving Department
Location: SPAR Hypermarket
Department: Loss Prevention / Receiving
Job Purpose
The LP Handler in the Receiving Department is responsible for preventing losses during goods receipt, ensuring accurate documentation, compliance with SOPs, and maintaining strong control over inward stock movement as per SPAR standards--especially important during high-volume festival seasons like Diwali, Pongal, and Onam.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control all inward movements of goods at the receiving bay
Verify quantity, quality, MRP, expiry date, and batch details against PO, invoice, and GRN
Ensure FIFO/FEFO practices are strictly followed during receiving
Prevent shortages, damages, pilferage, and substitution at the receiving point
Coordinate with vendors, DC teams, and internal departments during discrepancies
Report and document short supply, excess, damages, and mismatches immediately
Ensure proper sealing, labeling, and tagging of received merchandise
Maintain receiving area discipline, hygiene, and safety standards
Support internal audits, external audits, and surprise checks
Monitor unloading practices to avoid damages and unsafe handling
Ensure compliance with SPAR SOPs, COC, and statutory norms
Documentation & System Control
Cross-check PO, invoice, GRN, and delivery challans
Update and verify entries in ERP/PeopleStrong/Inventory systems (as applicable)
Maintain daily receiving reports and discrepancy logs
Assist in stock counts, cycle counts, and month-end inventory
Loss Prevention Focus
Identify high-risk SKUs and monitor them closely
Ensure no goods enter the store without proper authorization
Escalate suspicious activities or policy violations immediately
Support CCTV monitoring and investigation when required
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 12th / Diploma / Any Graduation
1-3 years of experience in LP / Receiving / Inventory control (Retail preferred)
Knowledge of retail receiving processes, FIFO, shrink control
Basic computer skills (MS Excel, inventory systems)
Strong attention to detail and integrity
Ability to work in shifts, weekends, and during peak sale periods
