Role Description

The

RE Wall Designer / Geotechnical Engineer

will be responsible for the design, analysis, and review of reinforced earth (RE) wall systems and other geotechnical structures. This role involves applying geotechnical principles to ensure safe, economical, and constructible retaining wall and foundation solutions in accordance with relevant standards and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering

Perform design and analysis of

Reinforced Earth (RE) walls

,

Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls

,

retaining structures

, and

embankments

. Conduct

geotechnical design

for foundations, slope stability, and earth pressure evaluations. Prepare and review

design calculations

,

drawings

,

reports

, and

construction details

. Utilize

geotechnical software

(e.g., GeoStudio, MSEW, ReSSA, PLAXIS, WALLAP, SLOPE/W, LPILE, etc.) for design and modeling. Coordinate with structural and civil design teams to integrate geotechnical and structural design requirements. Ensure designs comply with

local and international standards

(e.g., AASHTO, BS, EN, IRC, IS codes).

Technical Review & Documentation

Prepare and maintain

technical documentation

, design reports, and calculation sheets. Review soil investigation reports and interpret

geotechnical data

for design input. Evaluate and recommend suitable ground improvement or stabilization techniques when required. Perform

value engineering

to optimize design efficiency and cost.

Coordination & Support

Liaise with clients, project managers, and site teams to clarify design intent and resolve technical issues. Provide

technical support during construction

, including review of method statements and addressing field queries. Participate in

design review meetings

, risk assessments, and quality checks.

Qualifications

:

Educational Background

: A degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field.

Experience

: Previous experience in designing and constructing reinforced earth walls or similar structures.

Technical Skills

: Proficiency in

design software

such as

MicroStation

or

AutoCAD.

Certifications

: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is preferred.

Knowledge of Materials

: Understanding of materials used in RE wall construction, such as precast panels, reinforcement materials, and drainage media.

Additional qualifications that. would be beneficial include knowledge of geotechnical, environmental, and structural works, proficiency in relevant software, and experience in project management
