Job Summary:
The R&D Manager will lead product development, formulation research, and innovation for nutraceutical, herbal, and ayurvedic products. This role requires expertise in Ayurvedic formulations, herbal extracts, functional ingredients, and regulatory compliance. The candidate will be responsible for developing new products, improving existing formulations, ensuring quality standards, and managing R&D operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Development & Formulation
Develop new nutraceutical, herbal, and ayurvedic formulations (tablets, capsules, syrups, powders, gummies, oils, etc.).
Improve and optimize existing products based on market trends and customer feedback.
Conduct formulation trials, stability studies, and sensory evaluations.
Work with herbal extracts, botanicals, bioactive compounds, and Ayurvedic ingredients.
2. Research & Innovation
Identify new ingredients, technologies, and concepts for product innovation.
Conduct literature reviews, competitor research, and market studies.
Develop scientific documentation, claim support data, and white papers.
3. Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all formulations comply with FSSAI, AYUSH, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
Prepare technical documents: COA, MSDS, product dossiers, stability reports, SOPs, etc.
Coordinate with regulatory bodies for approvals and certifications.
4. Quality & Process Control
Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure raw material and product quality.
Standardize manufacturing processes, batch trials, and scale-up activities.
Ensure adherence to GMP, HACCP, and quality protocols.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with production, marketing, procurement, and sales teams for successful product launches.
Evaluate vendors, raw material suppliers, and new ingredient sources.
Support marketing with technical content, claims, and scientific presentations.
6. Team Management
Lead and mentor R&D team members.
Oversee lab operations, documentation, and equipment maintenance.
Manage project timelines and ensure smooth execution.
Key Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of Ayurveda, herbal science, and nutraceutical formulations.
Experience with herbal extracts, botanicals, and natural bioactives.
Hands-on experience in formulation development and stability studies.
Understanding of FSSAI, AYUSH, and GMP guidelines.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and research skills.
Excellent communication and project management abilities.
Additional Preferences:
Experience in a herbal, ayurvedic, nutraceutical, or pharma manufacturing setup.
Knowledge of clinical research, efficacy studies, and claim substantiation.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
