You are responsible for

The functional performance of the R&D IT-specific AWS Cloud infrastructure, providing global Philips R&D engineers with expert advice on usage and implementing functional best practices.
He/she is a specialist in AWS Cloud deployments, in particular AWS Services such as S3, RDS, EC2, CloudWatch, Lambda, Systems Manager and Cloud Formation. Knowledge of Linux distributions/Operating Systems is required.
The candidate will be expected to provide functional user support and to assist in defining technical requirements for the server infrastructure.
The candidate will be part of an international team responsible for managing AWS Cloud deployments and will work directly with colleagues in Europa and North America.
Support window will be aimed at European office hours and on average once per month maintenance on Saturday/weekend.

The candidate will work in an international team managing AWS Cloud deployments and be expected to provide functional user support and to assist in defining technical requirements.

To succeed in this role, you'll need a customer-first attitude and the following

  • participate in (internal) customer meetings at operational level
  • assist in defining technical requirements for the Cloud infrastructure
  • ensure operational excellence within his/her solutions scope
  • prevent and/or solve service interruptions for the solution environment
  • ensure compliance with rules and regulations (e.g. security) related to the solution environment
  • plan and document his/her activities including technical documentation and reports
Technical skills
Key knowledge
  • Amazon services : e.g EC2, RDS, S3, Code Pipeline, CloudWatch, Lambda, Systems Manager and CloudFormation, etc
  • Automate deployments, infrastructure as code
  • Proficient knowledge in scripting: Linux/Unix shell (bash, ksh, etc), Perl, Python, etc.
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Willingness to experiment with tools and services to stay up to date with Cloud technologies
Basic knowledge
  • Linux Operating Systems/distributions (L2/L3 system administration)
  • Networking/Cloud connectivity e.g. basic networking skills and understanding of forward/reverse proxy
Thinking environment
  • Coordinates his/her own activities in order to ensure that the solution performance is at agreed levels
  • Looks beyond his/her area of expertise
  • Can analyze and solve problems in his/her area of expertise
  • Feels responsible for the perfect performance of the infrastructure within his/her scope
  • Thinks and acts as service integrator between different technologies and service provider for business
  • Takes initiatives and can 'think along' with the (internal) customer
  • Has a clear overview of the IT environment and can explain it to others
Human Relation Skills
  • Moderate, can communicate and connect with technically oriented users
Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Engineering or IT is required along with 5+ years of relevant working experience with AWS Cloud
