We are looking for an

R&D Head

to lead and scale the research and development function across Ayurvedic, herbal, and nutraceutical product lines. This role involves end-to-end ownership of product development strategy, formulation innovation, team leadership, scale-up execution, and regulatory alignment. The ideal candidate should combine deep technical expertise with strong decision-making ability and hands-on experience translating Ayurvedic science into commercially viable, compliant, and scalable products at SDH Naturals.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the R&D strategy for Ayurvedic, herbal, and nutraceutical products from concept to commercial launch. Oversee formulation development across dosage forms including capsules, tablets, powders, syrups, oils, and functional blends. Review, approve, and guide optimisation of existing formulations for stability, shelf life, bioavailability, and cost efficiency. Translate classical Ayurvedic knowledge into modern, scalable, and compliant formulations. Plan and supervise laboratory trials, pilot batches, and commercial scale-up in coordination with production and QA. Define and monitor stability protocols, analytical testing plans, and quality benchmarks. Ensure all formulations, documentation, and claims comply with FSSAI, AYUSH, and nutraceutical regulations. Own R&D documentation standards including PDRs, MFRs, SOPs, validation protocols, and technical dossiers. Lead and mentor the R&D team, assign projects, review work, and ensure timely delivery. Work closely with procurement on raw material qualification and vendor approvals. Partner with marketing and leadership teams to align innovation, product positioning, and launch timelines. Track global trends, emerging actives, and competitor products to drive innovation and pipeline planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm / M.Pharm). Minimum

5+ years

of experience in Ayurvedic, herbal, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical R&D. Proven experience leading formulation development and scale-up projects. Strong understanding of Ayurvedic raw materials, extracts, excipients, and dosage-form science. Hands-on experience with stability studies, regulatory documentation, and manufacturing support. Ability to lead teams, make technical decisions, and manage multiple development pipelines. Strong documentation discipline, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability. Clear communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with QA, production, procurement, and marketing.
