Job Opening: Civil Material Engineer (R&D) - Startup Opportunity

Location: Guwahati, Assam

About Us

We are a construction-tech startup in the ideation stage, based in Guwahati. Our mission is to develop innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective construction materials tailored for the North-East region. We are building solutions that comply with Indian Standards (IS codes & BIS guidelines) while addressing local challenges in infrastructure and material supply.

If you are driven by R&D, experimentation, and problem-solving, and want to be part of an early-stage founding team, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct R&D on cement, concrete, aggregates, admixtures, fly ash, and alternative materials.

Design and test concrete mixes and materials in line with IS Codes, BIS Standards, and relevant Indian regulations.

Set up and manage a basic R&D laboratory for material testing.

Document results, prepare mix design reports, and support product development.

Collaborate with the founding team to prototype and pilot sustainable solutions.

Research local material resources (e.g., fly ash, stone chips, bamboo, recycled aggregates) for innovative use.

Qualifications

B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Civil Engineering / Materials Engineering (specialization in Concrete Technology preferred).

Strong knowledge of Indian Standards (IS codes, BIS testing methods).

Familiarity with material testing and quality control.

Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in an unstructured startup

Experience Examples: Handling lab projects, publishing research papers, working in cement plants, RMC labs, or government testing facilities.

Specialized Experience That Stands Out Working with fly ash, slag, silica fume, rice husk ash (common in Assam due to power plants & agriculture). Knowledge of geopolymer concrete, recycled aggregates, green building materials.
