A Safety Assurance officer is required to support to the production of safety process in accordance with FRA requirements and CENELEC safety standards. Additionally, the safety assurance officer provides independent review of and general guidance to the safety engineering teams to ensure compliance with relevant FRA regulations and international safety standards.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

• \xc2\xb7 Act as independent reviewer for all safety related documentation
• \xc2\xb7 Work with site safety engineers. The Safety Manager, and projects to understand timescale for delivery of safety related documentation and plan sufficient time for reviews
• \xc2\xb7 Develop safety engineering related processes for approval by the business
• \xc2\xb7 Conduct Audits of safety engineering activities and report findings to senior management
• \xc2\xb7 Conduct training in safety engineering

Qualifications:

• BSEE/BSCS/BSCE and minimum 10 years system safety engineering experience
• \xc2\xb7 An understanding of System Safety Engineering concepts, especially CENELEC and functional safety
• \xc2\xb7 Familiarity with CAFTA, FTAs, and FMEAs
• \xc2\xb7 Railroad experience required
• \xc2\xb7 Safety auditor experience a plus
• \xc2\xb7 Attention to detail; approaches work in a meticulous and thorough manner
• \xc2\xb7 Makes effective decisions by analyzing information and considering priorities
• \xc2\xb7 Good oral and written communication skills
• \xc2\xb7 Self-motivated, results oriented with a clear focus on quality
• \xc2\xb7 20-30% travel requirement

Additional Qualifications:

• Rail PTC Systems and FRA and CELNELEC standards experience.
