The Medical Transcriptionist in the Radiology Department is responsible for accurately transcribing radiology reports and imaging study interpretations dictated by radiologists. The role requires in-depth knowledge of radiological terminology, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
Transcribe dictated radiology reports including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and other imaging studies.
Edit and proofread transcriptions for grammatical and medical accuracy while preserving the intent of the radiologist's report.
Ensure timely completion and uploading of finalized reports to the hospital information system (HIS/PACS).
Clarify dictation inconsistencies with the radiologist when necessary.
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all patient records in compliance with hospital and legal policies.
Assist with organizing and archiving radiology documentation.
Coordinate with the radiology team for urgent or STAT reports.
Support the department in managing digital transcription software and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
Qualifications:
Education:
Diploma/Certification in Medical Transcription, Radiology, or Allied Health Sciences.
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in radiology transcription preferred.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of radiological terminology and procedures.
Excellent typing, listening, and proofreading skills.
Familiarity with PACS/RIS/HIS systems is an advantage.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
