Responsibilities

  • Participate in the clinical assessment and evaluation of oncology patients, including history taking, physical examination, and staging.
  • Perform and interpret CT and MRI scans for treatment planning, ensuring accurate delineation of target volumes and organs at risk.
  • Assist in the development of individualized radiation treatment plans in collaboration with the radiation oncology team.
  • Conduct dose calculation and optimization using treatment planning systems (TPS), ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.
  • Support treatment delivery using linear accelerators (LINAC), including patient positioning, immobilization, and quality assurance checks.
  • Provide assistance in brachytherapy procedures, including patient preparation, dose planning, and intraoperative coordination.
  • Monitor patients throughout the course of radiotherapy, assessing for acute side effects and managing toxicity in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, treatment summaries, and adverse events in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical physicists, radiation therapists, and oncology nurses, to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Stay current with advances in radiation oncology through continuous learning, case reviews, and participation in departmental conferences.
Requirements
  • MBBS degree with completion of internship; postgraduate training in Radiation Oncology (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Proficiency in radiation planning, including contouring on CT/MRI datasets and treatment volume delineation.
  • Hands-on experience with LINAC-based treatment delivery, including patient setup, image guidance (IGRT), and treatment verification.
  • Strong understanding of oncology assessment protocols and cancer staging systems (e.g., TNM).
  • Demonstrated ability in dose calculation methods (e.g., pencil beam, Monte Carlo) and treatment planning system (TPS) navigation.
  • Familiarity with brachytherapy techniques and procedural support, including HDR and LDR applications.
  • Knowledge of acute and chronic radiation toxicities and their clinical management.
  • Proficiency in using hospital EMR systems and digital imaging platforms (PACS).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced clinical environment with rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities as needed.
