Job Summary



The Quantity Surveyor (QS Engineer) is responsible for cost estimation, quantity take-offs, billing, contract administration, and cost control of construction projects. The role ensures that projects are executed within approved budgets while maintaining accuracy in measurements, documentation, and payments.

Job Roles & Responsibilities



1. Quantity Take-off & Estimation



Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and BOQs. Prepare cost estimates, rate analysis, and project budgets. Assist in tender preparation, comparison, and evaluation.

2. Billing & Measurement



Measure executed work at site as per drawings and specifications. Prepare and verify

RA bills, final bills, and reconciliation statements

. Check contractor bills and certify payments based on actual quantities.

3. Cost Control & Budgeting



Monitor project costs and compare with approved budgets. Identify cost variations and report deviations to management. Prepare cash flow statements and cost reports.

4. Contract Administration



Assist in preparation and interpretation of contracts and agreements. Handle variations, extra items, and change orders. Maintain records of claims, disputes, and contractual correspondence.

5. Material Reconciliation



Prepare and monitor material consumption statements (cement, steel, etc.). Perform reconciliation with theoretical vs actual usage. Support inventory control and material cost tracking.

6. Coordination & Reporting



Coordinate with Site Engineers, Project Managers, and contractors. Attend site meetings related to quantities, billing, and variations. Prepare weekly and monthly quantity and cost reports.

7. Documentation & Compliance



Maintain measurement books (MBs), BOQs, abstracts, and billing records. Ensure billing and measurements comply with drawings, specifications, and contract conditions. Assist in project handover documentation.

Key Requirements



B.E / B.Tech in Civil Engineering. 4-8 years of experience as a QS Engineer or Quantity Surveyor. Strong knowledge of construction drawings, BOQs, and billing procedures. Experience in residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects. Proficiency in

MS Excel

, AutoCAD (basic), and billing formats.

Desirable Skills



Knowledge of

rate analysis, contracts, and tendering

. Familiarity with standard measurement practices and specifications. Good analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and under deadlines.
