The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and cost control, ensuring that projects are completed within their projected budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation and Planning:
Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for repair and maintenance projects. Provide advice on the cost implications of different construction methods, materials, and processes.
Tendering and Procurement:
Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
Analyze and evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors. Negotiate and procure construction services and materials.
Contract Administration:
Draft and manage contracts between clients and contractors.
Monitor contract progress and ensure compliance with terms and conditions. Manage and resolve contractual disputes and claims.
Cost Control and Reporting:
Monitor project costs and ensure they align with the budget.
Prepare regular financial reports, including cost forecasts and valuations.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis and value engineering to improve project efficiency.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess potential risks related to costs and contracts.
Site Visits and Inspections:
Verify measurements and valuations on-site to ensure accuracy if needed

BTech
