Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field
Role Overview:
The Quantity Surveyor & Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for projects, managing budgets, tracking costs during execution, and ensuring the financial health of projects. This role requires close collaboration with architects, engineers, site teams, vendors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimation (Pre-Contract Stage):
Analyse architectural, structural, and service drawings to prepare accurate quantity take-offs.
Prepare cost estimates at concept, schematic, and detailed design stages.
Develop BOQs (Bill of Quantities) in accordance with standard formats (e.g., NRM, CPWD).
Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
Assist in preparing tender documents, technical and commercial bids.
Conduct market rate analysis for materials, labor, and equipment.
Quantity Surveying (Post-Contract Stage):
Monitor quantities executed at site and compare with budgeted quantities.
Prepare and verify RA (Running Account) bills and contractor invoices.
Maintain up-to-date records of site measurements and progress.
Track material and manpower consumption to identify variances.
Evaluate and certify subcontractor payments and change orders.
Cost Control & Budget Monitoring:
Maintain and update project cost sheets and cash flow forecasts.
Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
Support in financial reporting and final account closure.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis for design and material changes.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and market rates
Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and QS tools (e.g., CostX, Candy, Revit Quantification)
Good knowledge of estimation codes and standard BOQ formats (CPWD, DSR, etc.)
Analytical and numerical skills for accurate cost planning
Good communication and coordination abilities
Detail-oriented with strong documentation practices
Preferred Experience:
Residential, commercial, institutional, or interior fit-out projects
Tendering for government and private projects
Hands-on site measurement and billing experience
Exposure to green building cost assessment and value engineering
