The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing quality control activities to ensure that products, processes, and services meet company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. This role leads quality inspections, supports continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with quality systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Raw Material Quality Assurance
Inspect and record incoming raw material for moisture content, uniformity, cleanliness, and contamination.
Reject non-conforming raw material and maintain detailed records.
Blacklist vendors who supply rejected material more than once.
Collaborate with procurement and operations to ensure only approved material is used.
2. Storage Quality Control
Ensure storage areas are dry, ventilated, covered, and separated from other fuels/materials.
Monitor stored product for post-production changes: check moisture regain, mold/fungal infestation, clumping, physical degradation, and fire hazards.
Enforce FIFO (First-in, First-out) usage and remove non-conforming lots from storage.
3. In-Process Quality Monitoring
Perform scheduled checks on equipment output during production.
Test parameters such as moisture content, size, density, ash content, calorific value, and overall appearance.
Document deviations, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
4. Finished Product Evaluation
Sample finished pellets/briquettes from outgoing batches for detailed quality testing.
Check critical properties: moisture, ash, calorific value, bulk density, and contamination.
Approve or reject finished lots based on compliance with internal and client specifications.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain transparent, tamper-proof records for all quality tests, approvals/rejections, and corrective actions.
Communicate daily quality summary to plant manager and support audit queries as needed.
6. Training & Improvement
Train operators and relevant persons on quality standards and SOPs.
Analyze testing data to identify recurring issues or efficiency opportunities.
Propose process controls or changes to boost consistent product quality.
7. Compliance to Standards and Certifications
Ensure adherence to national/international standards in production and testing routines.
Prepare samples and documentation for certification, audits, and regular inspections
