To ensure that all wood and furniture products meet the organization's quality standards and customer expectations by implementing effective quality systems, process controls, and continuous improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities:1. Quality Management System (QMS):
Develop, implement, and maintain ISO / internal quality management systems.
Prepare and update SOPs, inspection checklists, and quality documentation.
Conduct internal audits and coordinate external quality audits.
2. Production & Process Quality Control:
Monitor in-process quality at various production stages (cutting, pressing, machining, polishing, assembly, and finishing).
Conduct root cause analysis for rejections, rework, or customer complaints.
Ensure use of correct materials (wood, veneer, hardware, adhesives, finishes) as per specifications.
Verify calibration of measuring instruments and inspection tools.
3. Supplier & Incoming Material Quality:
Inspect and approve incoming raw materials (timber, plywood, veneers, laminates, hardware, fittings, etc.).
Evaluate and develop suppliers based on quality performance.
Maintain records of supplier quality and initiate corrective actions as needed.
4. Finished Product Quality Assurance:
Ensure that finished furniture meets aesthetic, dimensional, and functional standards.
Conduct final inspection before dispatch and ensure customer specifications are met.
Manage inspection teams and implement sampling plans.
5. Continuous Improvement:
Lead quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives using tools like 5S, Kaizen, and 7 QC tools.
Analyze data on rework, scrap, and customer complaints for improvement opportunities.
6. Team Management & Training:
Supervise and train the quality team, inspectors, and production staff.
Promote a culture of quality awareness across all departments.
7. Customer Interaction:
Handle customer complaints and coordinate corrective/preventive actions.
Participate in quality discussions during new product development or project reviews.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of wood, plywood, veneers, laminates, and furniture manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with finishing, polishing, and assembly quality standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's / Diploma in Wood Technology / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or related field.
Minimum
7-10 years
of experience in quality management within wood or furniture manufacturing.
