Job Overview
The Quality Manager will lead and manage all quality assurance and control activities for automotive products and manufacturing processes. The role ensures compliance with customer and regulatory quality standards, drives continuous improvement initiatives and risk management, and leads the quality team to uphold superior product reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS)
Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems aligned with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements
Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and regulatory requirements
Manage and maintain quality documentation, procedures, and work instructions
Lead quality management reviews and drive strategic quality objectives
Product Quality Planning & Control
Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new product development and existing product improvements
Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions and approvals
Conduct and facilitate Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) for design and process
Develop and implement Control Plans for manufacturing processes
Oversee Statistical Process Control (SPC) implementation and monitoring
Audit & Compliance
Plan, conduct, and oversee internal quality audits and process audits
Coordinate external audits for IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific assessments
Ensure corrective actions from audit findings are implemented effectively
Maintain compliance with environmental and safety regulations
Quality Analysis & Continuous Improvement
Analyze quality metrics including scrap rates, defect levels, first pass yield, customer complaints, and warranty data
Facilitate root cause analysis and lead problem-solving teams using 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and PDCA methodologies
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles
Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track quality objectives
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate non-conformances
Supplier Quality Management
Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to ensure incoming material quality
Conduct supplier quality audits and capability assessments
Monitor supplier performance and drive improvement initiatives
Manage supplier non-conformance and corrective action processes
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise, train, and mentor quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians
Build and develop a high-performing quality team
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback
Foster a culture of quality awareness across the organization
Customer Interface & Satisfaction
Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and escalations
Manage customer complaints, warranty claims, and field failure analysis
Participate in customer quality meetings and presentations
Drive improvements based on customer feedback and Voice of Customer (VOC) data
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with design, production, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure quality is built into products and processes
Participate in new product development reviews and design validation
Support manufacturing with quality issue resolution and process optimization
Coordinate with maintenance and production planning for quality-related initiatives
Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of automotive quality standards: IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3
Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans
Experience with core quality problem-solving techniques: 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone analysis, Pareto analysis
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred)
Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes: machining, assembly, welding, casting, plastic molding
Knowledge of measurement systems, inspection techniques, and metrology
Proficiency in quality management software and statistical analysis tools (Minitab, SAP QM, or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
IATF 16949 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification
Experience in automotive tier-1 or OEM manufacturing environment
Knowledge of automotive electronics, embedded systems, or aerospace quality standards (AS9100)
Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
Experience with military or defense product quality requirements (MIL-STD)
Working Conditions
Office and manufacturing floor environment
May require occasional travel to customer sites, supplier locations, or other company facilities
Standard working hours with flexibility for urgent quality issues or customer requirements
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when on manufacturing floor
