Responsible for inspecting and ensuring the quality of all incoming raw materials, bought-out parts, and press shop components as per specifications, drawings, and quality standards. Ensure that only approved material is issued to production to maintain product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct incoming inspection of raw materials, coils, sheets, and components before issuing them to the press shop.
Verify material against drawings, specifications, and quality plans.
Perform dimensional checks, visual inspection, and functional testing of press shop parts.
Maintain records of inspection reports, rejection reports, and supplier quality performance.
Identify and segregate non-conforming material and coordinate with the supplier for corrective action.
Work with the press shop team to address recurring quality issues.
Support in preparation of quality documents - Incoming Inspection Report (IIR), Control Plans, Check Sheets, and NCR (Non-Conformance Reports).
Ensure calibration and correct usage of gauges, measuring instruments, and testing equipment.
Participate in supplier audits and provide feedback on quality performance.
Drive continuous improvement activities in inward quality processes.
Ensure compliance with ISO/TS/IATF standards and customer-specific requirements.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of press shop processes, raw materials, and sheet metal components.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
Proficiency in using measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Profile Projector, etc.).
Familiarity with quality tools - 7QC Tools, 5 Why, Pareto, FMEA, PPAP, etc.
Good communication and supplier handling skills.
Attention to detail and systematic approach.
Qualification & Experience:
Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering. 2-5 years of experience in inward quality inspection in a press shop or automotive/engineering industry. Knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality systems preferred.
