Job summary
The Quality Engineer ensures that mechanical products and manufacturing processes meet defined quality standards and customer specifications. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control systems, performing inspections and audits, conducting root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Quality control and inspection:
Conduct inspections and tests on mechanical components, raw materials, and finished products at various stages of production. This includes using a variety of inspection tools and interpreting engineering specifications and drawings.
Process monitoring:
Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure they adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality benchmarks. Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap, rework levels, and parts per million (PPM).
Problem-solving:
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for product and process issues using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Auditing and compliance:
Conduct internal and supplier audits to ensure adherence to company quality management systems (QMS) and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100).
Supplier quality management:
Work with suppliers to ensure incoming materials and components meet specified quality requirements. This may include conducting supplier capability assessments and audits.
Documentation and reporting:
Maintain detailed quality records and documentation. Prepare and present quality reports to management and other stakeholders.
Continuous improvement:
Drive continuous improvement activities using methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing to minimize waste and optimize processes.
Cross-functional collaboration:
Collaborate with design, production, and supply chain teams to address quality issues and ensure quality is built into new product introductions (NPI).
Training and mentoring:
Assist in training shop floor personnel on quality standards and procedures.
Required skills and qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. ASQ certification (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer - CQE) is a plus.
Experience:
4-5 years of experience in a quality engineering or quality assurance role within a mechanical manufacturing or related heavy industry.
Technical expertise:
Proficiency with mechanical inspection and testing techniques and tools (e.g., CMM, gauges).
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as casting, machining, welding, and fabrication.
Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to read engineering drawings.

Pay: ?40,000.00 - ?50,000.00 per month
