To ensure that all incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products meet defined quality standards and customer specifications by performing inspections, tests, and quality assurance activities within the engineering/manufacturing unit.
Key Responsibilities:1. Incoming Material Inspection
Inspect raw materials, components, and bought-out parts as per approved drawings and specifications.
Verify supplier inspection reports, test certificates, and compliance documents.
Identify and segregate non-conforming materials; initiate Material Rejection Reports (MRRs).
2. In-Process & Final Inspection
Conduct stage-wise and final inspections during fabrication, machining, assembly, and testing.
Use precision measuring instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, CMM, etc.) for dimensional checks.
Verify workmanship, welding quality, painting, and assembly against quality plans and drawings.
Ensure adherence to process control plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
3. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare inspection reports, test reports, and maintain inspection records systematically.
Update quality checklists, control charts, and NCR (Non-Conformance Report) logs.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) implementation.
4. Customer & Supplier Interaction
Support customer inspection visits, third-party inspections (TPI), and audits.
Coordinate with the procurement and supplier quality teams to resolve quality issues.
5. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for process improvement to reduce rework and rejection.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives like 5S, Kaizen, and Lean practices.
Support calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Metallurgical Engineering.
Experience:
2-4 years of experience in quality inspection or quality control in an engineering/manufacturing setup (e.g., fabrication, machining, automotive, heavy engineering, or lift manufacturing).
