The Quality Head is responsible for ensuring that all plastic moulded components and finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications. This role oversees the entire quality management system (QMS), from raw material inspection to final product delivery, implementing continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with ISO and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish, implement, and maintain the company's
Quality Management System (QMS)
in line with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 standards.
Oversee
incoming, in-process, and final quality inspections
for plastic moulded parts.
Develop and maintain
quality assurance plans, control plans, and inspection checklists
for moulded components.
Handle
customer complaints
, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement
corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
.
Conduct
PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA
as per automotive and industrial standards (if applicable).
Review and approve
first article inspection (FAI)
and new product validation reports.
Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to minimize defects and rejections.
Monitor and analyze
quality metrics
such as rejection rates, defect trends, and process capability (Cp, Cpk).
Train and guide the QA/QC team and shop-floor operators on quality procedures and standards.
Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding quality audits, approvals, and product feedback.
Drive
continuous improvement initiatives
such as Kaizen, 5S, and Lean Quality practices.
Ensure calibration of all measuring and testing instruments.
Maintain proper documentation, reports, and compliance records for audits and certifications.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of
plastic injection moulding processes
and mould tooling.
In-depth knowledge of
ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
quality systems.
Hands-on experience with
measurement instruments
(Vernier, Micrometer, Profile Projector, CMM, etc.).
Proficiency in
root cause analysis
,
problem-solving tools
, and
statistical process control
.
Excellent
communication
,
leadership
, and
team management
skills.
Analytical thinking with a focus on process improvement and defect prevention.
Knowledge of
APQP, PPAP, 8D, and CAPA
documentation.
Educational Qualification:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech
in Mechanical, Plastic, or Production Engineering.
Certification in
Quality Management / Six Sigma / ISO systems
preferred.
Experience Required:
Minimum
7 to 10 years
of experience in
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
, preferably in
plastic injection moulding or automotive component manufacturing
.
Experience in
team leadership
and
customer-facing quality functions
is essential.
